Convert Video From Nearly Any Format

Reduce those large video files to a smaller size using Handbrake.

Download Handbrake from : https://handbrake.fr/

Install and run.

Click Source, then click File open a single video file, select the file.

Or simply drag and drop anywhere in the program.

Click on Web Optimized, then click, then browse.

Select the destination location and type in a file name, in my example "my home videos2.mp4", then save.

Now click Start.

This took my 1280 x 720 mp4 file and compressed it from 31.7MB to 960 x 720 16MB.

VLC Embeded title Doesnt Match The Filename Title

When you first play the video in VLC the embedded title appears for brief moment and remains at the top of the video.

This embedded title shows up with different name compared to the filename.

You can't - Right click on the file then details and rename it - it wont rename
You can't - Play the movie in VLC, then tools, media info and rename title - it wont rename
You can't - use Mp3tag or TagAndRename - it wont rename

You can rename it with mkvmerge as it will remux the video.

Drag the movie into mkvmerge.

Click on the Global tab, in file/segment, rename the title to what you what it to be, then click start muxing.

This will make a copy of the file in the same folder as the original file.

You can also change the name at the top to show the name of the file not the embedded title name.

To do this open VLC, go to Tools,then Preferences, the select Show All Settings

On the left column select Input/codec, then scroll down on the right hand side to Change title according to current media.

Change the $t to say $

Download Youtube Videos From Your Playlist

What I wanted to do is save certain YouTube videos from my playlist or have those newly added YouTube playlist entries sent to my Dropbox so I can then pick which ones I wanted to download at a later date.

You will need to log into your YouTube account on the PC and go to your Playlist.

I have My Playlists in Folders so in this example I have clicked on My Car Stuff folder Playlist.

Copy by dragging the URL for this folders playlist to the MediaHuman YouTube Downloader.

If you get a message like the one below, you will need to make this public for while so you can download the videos you want then make them private again later.

First Remove this failed video by clicking the X when you hover  over the failed video,  if you don't you will not be able to add more videos.

Next click on Playlist settings, then select Public, then save

Now drag that URL to MediaHuman YouTube Downloader once again and you will be good to go.

When you hover over the video, you can either download the files as video or slide the control over to make it an audio only file, then click on download.

VLC Not Showing Correct Title Of Movie

If the Name of the file is correct and the tag information is correct then you will probably find that the title is incorrect.

To check open the movie in VLC click on Tools, Media Information, under General if the name of the title is different  you will need to change it in a program called MKVmerge GUI.

Install then run mmg.exe from the mkvtoolnix folder.

Drag the MKV into the input files area, then swap to the Global tab.

It is here you rename the File/segment title to the correct name

Once renamed, click the button at the bottom named Start Muxing.

The MKV file will be renamed in the same directory as the source.

Run VLC, choose tools, then preferences

On the bottom left under show setting, click on select ALL

Scroll down to Interface, the main interfaces and enable Web

Under Main interfaces select Lua, under Lua HTTP type in your password, then press save

Enter any computer name, then enter the Ip address of the computer, press save

Click on the arrow in the top left to take you back to the main page.

Go back to the app and under Saved Computers, click on the newly created computer it should be orange, if it grayed out you haven't got VLC playing.

To save the newly merged file, click file then Save As

Rename the file name to something new, then press save.

Update - I have noticed some videos don't play in real time but you can hear them when you save the joined files they work fine.

Creating Video Small Enough For Blogger

I have a video that I created with my iPhone the size of the movie was much too large around 489 meg.

Using windows movie maker or in my case it was called windows live movie maker the size of the file was reduced to 118Meg.

This has reduced the size of the file a significant amount but I found that if I took the original file and converted with Atube Catcher I could reduce it even further, down to 40Meg.

Does My Media Have Drm Protection

The easiest way is to add Protected column to your windows explorer.

To do this, go to where your media resides.

In the top right in search enter say wma

This will bring up all songs with the extension wma

Now right click on one of the columns, on mine I have Name, #, Title, Contributing Artist and Album.

Right click on one say Album, a context menu will appear, click on more, then scroll down to Protected.

The songs will either say yes or no

Creating New Ifo For Your Damaged Dvd

I had a DVD of my sons birthday party that would not play anymore.
When I viewed the files in exlorer I could play the Vob files but the VTS_01_0.IFO would not copy
I was still able to copy the vob files.
I found a program called IfoEdit v0.971 public free version which created the new ifo files needed to create a new working DVD.

Run IfoEdit.exe

Click on create IFOs

Under output stream find the destination of the Vob file

Tick the box that says "same as source"

Then OK.

Once finished it will create the files needed for you to re-burn to disk.

If you have more than one Vob file click on the first Vob file.

If the Vob files are not labeled as VTS_01_1.VOB ifoedit will not recognize the file so rename these in the order you want played

EG:
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB

You can then re-author the DVD in Shrink if you really need to.
