MovieScanner "" is an Invalid Integer

If you run moviescanner and get the below message

Click OK, then make your way to the moviescanner folder, in my case in in my case its

 C:\Users\(your username)Downloads\MovieScannerWindows\MovieScanner\MovieScanner.exe

Delete the data folder or the file inside the folder (moviescanner.db), the run Moviescanner again.

see my other blog : https://lozaelec.blogspot.com/2019/12/movie-scanner-catalog-your-home-movie.html

This seems to happen often, but i'm not fussed as it catalogs well and it doesn't take long to remove the data folder, this may be happening if its looking for a drive that is no longer there the next time you run the program or if you don't empty the database before closing.

Can't Read From Source File Or Disk

If you get this error as I did when copying file, then you probably have a bad sector on the drive.

You still may be able to play the file but this error message will appear when you do.

You could try to use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to recover the file :https://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizardpro/

or MiniTool Partition Wizard to check and repair errors

 Or DiskGenius : https://www.diskgenius.com/manual/verify-or-repair-bad-sectors.php

In my case there was a bad sector on the drive and the file was corrupt, I was able get part of the video by placing into VideoRedo then removing bad section of the video then exported the video :  https://www.videoredo.com/en/index.htm#

After i was finished with the video file I used a few standard format tools and partition tools but the drive would not format. I ended up using a low level format tool that worked a treat : https://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/
BE CAREFUL TO FORMAT THE CORRECT DRIVE / PARTITION

Movie Scanner - Catalog Your Home Movie Collection In List Format

Here is a great but simple way to catalog your home video in list view without the fancy Cover-art.

https://www.tweaking4all.com/downloads/MovieScannerWindows.zip

It lists the basics, Tile name, format (av,mkv,mp4 etc), Size of file, file location, Bitrate (16:9 1080 (1920 x 1080), audio properties (ac3,mp3, dts)

You can right click on the screen and export the entire list and rename the extension to XLS and it would open in Excel.

As you can see in column E the last 4 rows have hyperlinks.
You can create these link by double clicking on each file location and it will create a hyperlink directly to that folder as you can see by the below picture the hyperlinks are in blue.

Movie Maker Does Not Play Or Convert iPhone Mov Files

When you drag or import you video into the program then try to play the video it only converts the audio and the video is not displayed.

You are missing a codec

In my version of Movie maker 2012 (build 6.4.3522.0110) there is no way to enable codecs automatically as there was in a previous versions.

Fix

Download the latest K-lite codec pack (basic will do) : https://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

Your MOV video will import fine now.

Alternative To VLC

In some situations if you find that VLC doesn't play your content try MPC-HC, works a treat.

In most cases VLC probably just needs an update.

How To Download All Videos From Playlist

Go to a YouTube channel then click on playlist

If you have multiple playlist click on one of the playlists.

Then copy the URL at the top of the webpage.

Download : Youtube List Grabber https://sourceforge.net/projects/youtubelistgrabber/

Right click on Youtube List Grabber (By Napsterakos).exe and run as administrator

Now paste the URL we copied earlier

If this doesn't work with https://www.youtube.com/watch?123456789123456789 then remove the s from HTTP(S) eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?123456789123456789

Highlight all then right click on the list and press save.

This will save a list of the videos URL in text format in the same directory as youtubelistgrabber.exe
Now open your favorite Youtube video download program, maybe something like YT Free Downloader or in my case Atube catcher. Be careful with Atube catcher as there is the is pop up.

Run Atube catcher then go to tools then, open batch, click ok if prompted then select the text file Youtube List Grabber created. (Yourlist.txt)

Your done this will add each one be patient, only a few at a time will download though.

Always Use The Selected Program To Open This Kind Of File Not Highlighted

If  "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is not highlighted.

In my case my mp4 and mpg files were not able to be changed to a default program

Go to Start, then type Default Programs, click on Default Programs

Click on "Set program access and computer defaults", click OK to UAC if prompted

Select Microsoft Windows, then click OK

Some files still would not allow file association, for example MP4 files

I ran VLC, then  Tools, then Preferences

Scroll down and click on Set up associations....

Select mp4, then OK or in my case I selected all, then Ok, as i use VLC for playing all media files.

See: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html for other file types.

Airplay For Windows Using Tuneblade

I spent hours trying to get a windows media player to work with airplay.

Tried MPlayer, SMplayer, Media centre addin, 5Kplayer and many more with no success.

My default windows media player is VLC and didn't allow Airplay nativelly.

I wanted to wirelessly stream the audio content of a movie from my media PC to the an Aura Harmon Kardon Wireless speaker.

As the PC does not have a wireless card, I needed to do this by streaming the content via the LAN connection to the wireless router, then to the wireless speaker.

There are many few applications that allow you to turn your PC into a Airport server Receiver EG Shairport4w allows you to do just that, you can stream your music from say you mobile to your PC.

Shairport4w : http://lozaelec.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/play-music-from-iphone-ipod-or-ipad-to.html

To get it to though to stream from the PC to a device is difficult without using Airplay in iTunes and that is not always possible as some content would not play in iTunes.

Yes difficult until I discovered Tuneblade.

All I needed to do is click on the play button for HK Aura WF and it work flawlessly.

Tuneblade : http://tuneblade.com/

Trial version allows you to stream for 10 minutes, I would recommend the full version as it was only $10 or so dollars.

I was also able to use the built in audio delay in Vlc.

MPlayer For Windows Wont Run

So you don't spend hours trying to work out why MPlayer doesn't run, MPlayer currently doesn't use a graphical interface unless you use something like smplayer front end Player : http://www.smplayer.eu/en/downloads

MPlayer Download : http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer/

Unzip into a folder.

If you want to run MPlayer without Graphical Interface, right click on the video/Audio file then select open with, then Choose Default Program.

Then click on Browse, then browse to the MPlayer folder you unzipped earlier. Select MPlayer, then Open, the OK.

The movie or audio file will play assuming you have a windows codec pack installed already.

As there are no controls it is difficult to control you can however use your keyboard Up, Down, Left and Right and space bar or scroll it with your mouse.

Convert Those DVD's To Use In Plex

Unfortunately Plex doesn't seem to support DVD's

I amuse you have rip your personal DVD collection and found that Plex doesn't detect them.

Use MakeMkv Batch : http://www.makemkvbatch.com/   website down

Try : http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VidCoder - works well

There is a quick fix, works at the moment but who knows how long for.

You could move all the DVD's into one folder then setup a new Library

You just move the VOB files only into a folder (must be in folder) and name them as follows

Vts_02_1 s01e01
Vts_02_1 s01e02
Vts_02_1 s01e03

As you can see in this example Vts_02_0 is the first file so I added labelled this as s01e01 then s01e02 and so on.

Vts_02_0.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e01.vob
Vts_02_1.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e02.vob
Vts_02_2.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e03.vob
Vts_02_3.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e04.vob
Vts_02_4.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e05.vob
Vts_02_5.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e06.vob
Vts_02_6.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e07.vob

This only works if you setup a new library as TV shows.

You can do this by clicking on the + sign

Then TV Shows

Then Type the name you want to give this EG. Movies2 or DVD's click next

Now click browse for Media Folder

Select the newly created folder with all your DVD's

Then click Add Library

Should look like this

As you can see there is there is 1 Cover with 7 VOB Files inside

A snap shot of each was created.

It would be wiser to convert those Dvd's to say MKV as MKV is supported.

DVD tools

VobMerge: http://www.evilmaster.net/

You can create one Vob file then convert to MKV or use MkvMerge.

MkvMerge : https://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

Once you download the mkvtoolnix run mmg.exe (MkvMerge)

Another great tool is MakeMKV : http://www.makemkv.com/

Rename your tv series : https://code.google.com/p/mediarenamer/downloads/list

Or rename your Movies with Media Center Master : http://www.mediacentermaster.com/
