Movie Scanner - Catalog Your Home Movie Collection In List Format

Here is a great but simple way to catalog your home video in list view without the fancy Cover-art.

https://www.tweaking4all.com/downloads/MovieScannerWindows.zip

It lists the basics, Tile name, format (av,mkv,mp4 etc), Size of file, file location, Bitrate (16:9 1080 (1920 x 1080), audio properties (ac3,mp3, dts)

You can right click on the screen and export the entire list and rename the extension to XLS and it would open in Excel.

As you can see in column E the last 4 rows have hyperlinks.
You can create these link by double clicking on each file location and it will create a hyperlink directly to that folder as you can see by the below picture the hyperlinks are in blue.

If you haven't done so already install VLC : https://www.videolan.org/

Locate an Mp3 file, right click on the Mp3 file then select Open with, then Select VLC media player.

If you would like VLC to always open when playing an MP3 file then select Choose another app instead.

Now select VLC, then tick Always use this app to open .mp3 files, then OK

Once VLC opens click on Playback, then Renderer, then select you Google Home device.

This may say scanning as it detects the devices on the network, give it 20 seconds or so.

Fetch Tv Stream To Pc

When I first bought my Fetch TV I got the impression that I could stream my live TV recordings from anywhere but this is not possible, only over the LAN and even then it was not possible currently with the fetch app on an iPhone or iPad.

You would think that you could watch your recorded content locally if you were to login to the Fetch website, but this was not the case.

How to stream your recorded Fetch TV shows via VLC

Click View, then Playlists, click on Universal Plug n Play.

It will take quite while for it to detect all devices and folders, I found if I clicked on Network streams (SAP) it may speed up the UPNP discovery.

Double click on a reordering to play in VLC

****************************************************************************

To detect your stream address

download developer tools from : : http://www.meshcommander.com/upnptools

direct link: http://www.meshcommander.com/DeveloperToolsForUPnPTechnologies.msi?attredirects=0

Install then make your way to the install directory : C:\Program Files (x86)\Open Source\Developer Tools for UPnP Technologies

Run AV Media Controller.exe

Double click on the file, click on resource #1

You can enter the URL into VLC or MPC-HC

Download : https://mpc-hc.org/

Install, the run, click open then file enter your stream address found as shown above

My Media Hub allows you to play your own music,Videos or photos from DNLA Server.

I running openmediavault as a NAS with a USB drive attached on a Raspberry Pi-3 and it will stream videos from it.

On the fetch remote click on Menu, then MyStuff, then my Media Hub.

From there you will see your STB (Fetch) recording or DNLA devices.

Convert Those DVD's To Use In Plex

Unfortunately Plex doesn't seem to support DVD's

I amuse you have rip your personal DVD collection and found that Plex doesn't detect them.

Use MakeMkv Batch : http://www.makemkvbatch.com/   website down

Try : http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VidCoder - works well

There is a quick fix, works at the moment but who knows how long for.

You could move all the DVD's into one folder then setup a new Library

You just move the VOB files only into a folder (must be in folder) and name them as follows

Vts_02_1 s01e01
Vts_02_1 s01e02
Vts_02_1 s01e03

As you can see in this example Vts_02_0 is the first file so I added labelled this as s01e01 then s01e02 and so on.

Vts_02_0.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e01.vob
Vts_02_1.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e02.vob
Vts_02_2.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e03.vob
Vts_02_3.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e04.vob
Vts_02_4.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e05.vob
Vts_02_5.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e06.vob
Vts_02_6.vob will be renamed to Vts_02_0 s01e07.vob

This only works if you setup a new library as TV shows.

You can do this by clicking on the + sign

Then TV Shows

Then Type the name you want to give this EG. Movies2 or DVD's click next

Now click browse for Media Folder

Select the newly created folder with all your DVD's

Then click Add Library

Should look like this

As you can see there is there is 1 Cover with 7 VOB Files inside

A snap shot of each was created.

It would be wiser to convert those Dvd's to say MKV as MKV is supported.

DVD tools

VobMerge: http://www.evilmaster.net/

You can create one Vob file then convert to MKV or use MkvMerge.

MkvMerge : https://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

Once you download the mkvtoolnix run mmg.exe (MkvMerge)

Another great tool is MakeMKV : http://www.makemkv.com/

Rename your tv series : https://code.google.com/p/mediarenamer/downloads/list

Or rename your Movies with Media Center Master : http://www.mediacentermaster.com/

Batch Move All Vob Ifo DVD Files Into A VIDEO_TS Folder

Your movies in Media Browser and Plex are not displaying correctly.

You can see Vob files on the main page with all the other coverart.

These will need to be moved into a subfolder named VIDEO_TS

How to batch move all your vob, bup, ifo files to a subfolder names VIDEO_TS.

Download : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwjqRgkVKt1IOTdYUDNQV2RaTGc/edit?usp=sharing

The only problem with this script I found is that it creates an empty VIDEO_TS folder for your mkv or avi files as well.

The fix for this is to find all the empty VIDEO_TS folders and deleted them with another Batch File.

Plex Server Starts: Brower Opens

Whenever you start your PC Plex opens IE browser http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/setup

Annoying

Right click on Plex server sitting in your tray and untick Start Plex Media Server at Login

Done

The only issue with this is that Plex will have to be run manually it will no longer start up in the tray next time you restart your PC.

The other issue is that if this service is not running you will not be able to access your files locally or remotely this will mean you will have to run Plex each time you want to use it.

The other method to stop the browser from opening is to Download this reg file below.

Click Download, when done go to the file in your downloads and double click on the .reg file.

Do this at your own RISK - Worked for me

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwjqRgkVKt1INFBzNFVvRUI5N1k/edit?usp=sharing

Say yes to User Account Control

This will prompt you with registry editor, click yes

Your service will startup in the tray enables as normal but no more annoying Browser window.
