After half an hour of changing every setting on the camera, removing batteries a few times, removing backup battery in the side compartment and resetting to factory their was no sign of an image on the display panel.
I then decided to record a video, low and behold the picture appeared, returned to photo mode and the screen was working once again, Fixed for now.
