Create your own hostfile

If you would like to block malware, spyware, pup and ads from websites then you may want to create or maintain your own host file.

When a program tries to connect to contact a hostname it sends it to the manually configures IP address whether that is 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1. As this is not a valid address it will not resolve.

127.0.0.1 : host file see : http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/hosts

From this webpage press save, to your desktop as hosts.txt

now run HostsXpert then click on Make Writeable? if yours says Make ReadOnly?.

If yours says Make Writeable, click on it to change it to Make ReadOnly?

Click on Import Options, then Replace Host Files.

Find the hosts.txt file, then ok.

Click Make ReadOnly? to lock the file again
