Reckon / Quicken Firewall Issues - Multiple User Access Issues

The port number is changed each year a new edition is published - please check which version (year of release) you are running

Reckon Accounts 2017 uses Port 10180
Reckon Accounts 2016 uses Port 10179
Reckon Accounts 2015 uses Port 10178
Reckon Accounts 2014 uses Port 10177
Reckon Accounts 2013 uses Port 10176

If QuickBooks is not able to communicate with the computer/server where the Reckon/Quicken Data file is, (this will error when Multiple users are trying to access through the network) you will need to make sure that the 5 files below and ports have been granted access from incoming and outgoing ports through the firewall settings.

Before you do this to all computers trying to access the file (firstly do these steps ON the Server/PC which is holding the data file) - the other PC's accessing this file may NOT need these settings enabled.

There are

FileManagement.exe
QBDBMgr.exe
QBDBMgrN.exe
QBGDSPlugin.exe
QBW32.exe

Go Start, then type firewall in the search.

Click on Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.

We need to setup Incoming Rules and outgoing Rules
Select Inbound Rules, then click on New Rule.

Select Program, then Next.

Click Browse, then search for the file; in my case C:\Program Files\Intuit\ReckonAccounts 2015
(This path will vary).

Select Allow the connection, then Next

Then Next again.

Where it says Name type FileManagement.exe, then Finish

Do the same for the remaining 3 files

QBDBMgr.exe
QBDBMgrN.exe
QBGDSPlugin.exe
QBW32.exe

Now for the Outgoing Rules

Select Outgoing Rules, then New Rule.

Now you have probable guessed we need to allow the 4 files again and their ports.

Select Program, then Next.

Click Browse, then search for the file; in my case C:\Program Files\Intuit\ReckonAccounts 2015

Select Allow the connection, then Next

Then Next again

Where it says Name type FileManagement.exe, then Finish

Do the same for the remaining 3 files

QBDBMgr.exe
QBDBMgrN.exe
QBGDSPlugin.exe
QBW32.exe

Once finished

You will need to set the ports on each file for inbound and outbound.

So your will look similar to this

Double click on the first file FileManagement.exe, then select the tab protocols & Ports.
In Protocol Type select TCP and in Local port, select Specific ports and enter the port for the corresponding year. in my case it is 2015 so I entered 10178.
To be safe I actually entered 10177, 10178.

Click apply, then OK

Do the same for all 5 files Incoming and Outgoing.

All should work, good luck
