In this example I have a Mobitix camera and will be port forwarding port 3003
You don't always need to use the port number they have suggested in the DVR manual you can sometimes choose your own.
To allow port 3003 through the modem I needed to set up (Ip Filtering Incoming) in the Security settings and (Virtual server) in the Nat settings.
What we are trying to do is get Port 3003 to the right computer or device
First step is to open port 3003 through the modem
Login into your Modem
On the left hand column click on Configuration, then Security, then IP Filtering Incoming
Click on Add, then In filter name add any name you want say Mobotix
Under Protocol choose TCP, some cameras may need Tcp /Udp
In the Destination address place the Ip address you have entered into you DVR in my case 192.168.2.50 you will need to enter this in two fields (see below)
In source and destination port enter 3003
Click apply
Now all that is need is to allow the External port 3003 to talk to the Internal port which is also Port 3003.
On the left hand column click on Configuration, then Nat, then Virtual Servers
Click on Add, then under Customer service enter the name your chose earlier mine was Mobotix.
Under Server Ip Address enter your DVR's IP Address mine was 192.168.2.50.
Under external port Start and End enter 3003 and Internal port enter 3003
You have now allowed port 3003 to talk to your DVR
Because your DVR has that port numbered entered into its settings the modem will send request to network and ask what device is using port 3003 and the DVR will say "ITS ME" and receive the video stream.
Next is to open the DVR app on your phone and enter in the settings
Just remember the Ip address or host address on the app will actually be your WAN ip address not your local 192.168.2.50 unless you only want to view your DVR locally on WiFi only.
