Toyota Corolla Conquest Radio SEC Error And Wiring Pinouts

If you have removed your radio from the car you will notice the COD error on the screen.

You will need to find your security code, it can be the last three digits of the Vin /Chassis number or the dealer number (where the car was first purchased) maybe in the manual.

You local Toyota dealer would be the safest bet.

You have 10 goes of getting this right so be careful

1) Turn the ignition on
2) Press the PWR-VOL button
3) The unit will display SEC
4) Press and hold the Track Up then press 1 (other people have said press 1 or hold 1 then press track up this didn't work with this model.
5) The unit will display  - - - this is now waiting for code
6) In my case the number is 578, to get the first number (5) press the number 1 on the radio 5 times then for the second number (7) press the number 2 seven times, then for the third number (8) press the number 3 eight times.
7) To finish press and hold the Scan button
8) The radio will shut off, press the power / volume button

Erisin ES2402V Car Radio

I am hoping that as you read this you see the pitfalls of buying a car radio online.

Its all about helpful service

The bottom line is make sure you get the res-seller to send you a copy of the instructions before you buy it or make sure its readily available online.

It's time to put control back with the buyer and suppliers will need to conform.

I wrote this post as it annoyed me that I couldn't get information I needed on two wires.

Please consult your local technician to confirm any wiring from this page

as failing to do so may result in damage to your radio or your car.

I purchased a VW Golf 2010 model and it was meant to have had Bluetooth in the car but the car dealer got it wrong, even though you can enable Bluetooth in the car radio menu it needed a Bluetooth module which is an optional extra.

Anyway I decided to purchase a Erisin Android 8" 4 core car radio from Ebay and even though the re-seller was helpful all the way through the transaction and even some questions after they will only help you so far.

Unfortunately my experience with Erisin or its online Ebay store was not the best, all I wanted was to get a copy of the instructions for the unit and a detailed wiring instructions.

In detailed instructions I meant I wanted to know what the wire did and whether the power was positive in or out of that wire. In doing so I would not accidentally feed 12v or ground to the wrong wire.

Ebay store response

Thank you for the messsage,

The user's manual has been built in this unit with the icon name "Instructions", have you found it?
Sorry we do not have other instrction, hope this will help you:
http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/easyrising/ES2402V-E24-Wiring-Diagram.jpg

This was concerning as no other instructions means they could not help me any further so I contacted Erisin directly from their website.

Erisin website response

Hi,
Yes we are the Erisin, but we don't have all your information and details. You should contact the seller who you bought from and she got the all details information and can help you.

Hope you can understand this

Instructions

Here is a copy of the instructions on the radio itself which took me a couple of days to work out how to get off the instructions off radio, I eventually logged onto my google account on the radio then emailed myself the file.

There was no downloadable instructions for my model available from the Erisin website.

My first issue was getting the unit to turn off after the ignition was turned off.

The answer is to make sure the connector 16 and 17 is not connected.

When the Can-bus module (14) is connected you don't need to connect plug 16 and 17
otherwise if you do the radio will not turn off automatically when you leave the car.

Most wires are self explanatory and
No 11  -  The pink wire goes to Ground of the handbrake cable
No 12  - I still have not been able to get an answer on what the cables for SW-Control does
my guess is steering control (I assume ground switch to either wire)

I work as a technical adviser for an electronics outlet so I know how important it is to get the right instructions and information to our installer/customers.

Update

After numerous amount of emails to the Erisin website and the web-store I finally got an answer I needed.

Ebay store response

Thank you for the message,

OK, No. 12 are cables for steering wheel control.

a) If your car has built-in CanBus, you need power cable with CanBus decoder, the steering wheel control cable will through the Canbus decoder to connect,So you just need to connect the power harness, then you can use steering wheel function directly, no need to manual learning or pairing.

b). If your car has no CanBus built in, it can work with our unit, and you need connect the cable "Key 1" and " key 2" to the signal cable of your steering wheel and "GND" cable to ground, you may cut down these cables from the power cable of this unit to connect if no other special steering wheel control cables, then you can manual learn or pair steering wheel button in this way.
Press “cancel” button to cancel history ----- pres TEST button to begin setting ----- choose one function keys such as VOL+ on the touch screen ----- long press the correspondence VOL+ on your car steering wheel, until you get the final value ----- complete all the keys setting such as VOL- , Prev, Next, MUTE, Call on... then exit.

c). If your car built with Can-Bus , but Tip A is not working, please cut down the steering wheel cable from the power cable, and kindly try Tip B.

No 10  - POWER CABLE FOR CAMERA - I was not able to get 12v out of the cable when I placed the car in reverse. I then powered the camera directly to a 12 v battery and connected the video cable from the camera to no:3 Aux Video Input and the camera worked fine.

Rear camera purchased from : http://www.altronics.com.au/p/s9131-colour-ip65-weatherproof-reversing-camera/

The response from Erisin re-seller below seem to suggest that this wire no 10 needs positive 12 v from the rear reverse light so that the camera can operate.

Due to the fact I have the can-bus connected I didn't need to connect wire 10 as the can-bus controller already knows that the car is in reverse and tells the radio to enable the rear camera input.

You will however need to ground the cable and connect the camera to the reverse wire.
in some cases doing this can effect the cars electronics fault detection. I would probably use a solid state relay to the reverse wire as to not load down the wire and take positive 12v from the rear wiper to supply power to the camera. See below for my proposed wiring.

Rear Camera Wiring VW 2010 - https://youtu.be/wo3nQd2eat8

Ebay store response

1. Firstly, please connect the camera to the power supply correctly; generally, just connect red cable to power positive pole and black cable to power negative pole. Then connect the reversing camera RCA output to Video IN/AUX IN/CAM IN.

2. Please Connect the Back car control cable of the car dvd player to your car's back light positive pole, some special player build this cable in the can-bus decoder, then you do not have to connect it by yourself, if so, just connect the camera correctly, then it is ready to use.

Antenna Signal - Erisin ebay Re-seller Response

1.Please put your car antenna to car roof to receive a better signal or try to find another Antenna to test, and test it in the position where has good signal. Please check if your radio antenna connected with power
2. Please choose correct radio area(European bandwidth) in factory setting, the password is 126.
3. Please adjust the frequency to a famous FM/AM channel to have a try
4. Please close the RDS function or turn the AF to off to have a try
5. If your car is VW AUDI BENZ BMW and your factory radio aerial connector is the Din Type, Single-Fakra Type or Double-Fakra type, you may need an adapter es068, we can send one as a gift for you if you need.
please check the the radio adapter from this link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ES069CU-AUDI-VW-Amplified-RADIO-Antenna-Adapter-Twin-Fakra-Din-Connector-/141776711559?hash=item21028cef87

The unit is very easy to install as the Can-bus control means that you really have only the rear camera to wire and or front camera to install if you have purchased them.
The steering wheel controls all work fine and there is no need to wire this up the Can-bus module controls it fine.
The radio signal is crap low signal level, this will need an antenna booster (make sure if you have VW golf you ask the seller to send you an antenna booster. The standard radio must have some sort of diversity system which uses both coax cables behind the radio. The supplied adapter coax only supports one of the Fakra antenna sockets behind the radio.
It seems that the blue wire that comes out of the antenna cable needs to be connected, it is labelled automatic antenna, the wording could be changed to connect to ignition. There is no picture of the blue cable in the picture above but the blue wire comes out of no.1 (radio antenna port). If you do not connect this, the radio will not work. Looking back now if this was connected I would not have needed the dual Fakra cable.
The Ebay seller has offered to send me one free of charge (ill keep you informed)
I received the antenna adapter with twin Fakra connectors. I connected the blue wire to 12v (ignition) and it all works fine, radio signal is fine.
The ES2402V came with IGO navigation software still to be tested. From the same re-seller I also purchased a Bluetooth ELM327 OBDI scanner tool. The ELM 327 connects automatically to the stereo every time I start the car.
I also purchased the USB camera separately, this is for the built in DVR system which seems to work fine. To get the DVR camera to operate all the time I moved DVR icon onto the main desktop, but it may just need to be turned a couple of times by clicking on the DVR icon for it to turn on every time you start the car.

Circuit of the antenna radio adapter

After 6 months or so it began to have issues with the Radio cutting out, if the volume was around half way it would cut out (very annoying).
This would happen in Radio or Bluetooth mode.
On Bluetooth the iPhone volume could not exceed half way or it would cut out. (by the way this is not very loud at all)
The only way to get it to turn back on was to turn the ignition off then on again, you cant just turn the unit off as this just places it in standby mode.
As this was purchased overseas it would cost me too much to return to them to repair.
(Note to Self buy from local supplier, its just not worth the headache)

Audi A4 Whining Sound From Rear Of The Car

I was getting a noise from the rear of the my Audi A4 2002.

The noise seems to be coming and going over the first few months of first hearing the sound.

The sound was only there when the car was started or at idle either with or without the clutch engaged.

The whining sound seemed to travel through body of the car but louder at the rear of the car.

At first i thought it could be a bearing or fuel pump.

Anyway after 6 months of putting up with the noise, it got much louder, I would pull up at the lights and hope that no one could here the whining sound.

I decided to get the car placed onto a hoist, we found that the Fuel filter was the culprit.

This is located under the rear seat behind the driver.

The fuel filter seems to last around 10 years then needs replacing, even less if you are the sort of person to fill up when your tank is low.

The filter seemed to be clogged and the whining pulsating sound was coming from filter.

Replaced the filter and the noise disappeared.

After the installation of IOS7 I was unable to control music on my iPhone from car Bluetooth controller properly.
If I was to choose a song manually it would play a song, but no matter how many times I disconnected and connected the controller it would still not respond to up/down next track controls.

All Bluetooth audio controls worked again

Line Input For Car Radios

Original car radios don't allow you to connect a line input easily.

This adapter from BlitzSafe allows you to do just that.

I was able to connect this to my Audi A4 car radio which has a CD changer input.

The BlitSafe unit controls these data signals that would usually come from a CD changer, it enables the a line input by pressing the CDC button on the radio.

I purchased this from : http://www.blitzsafe.com/catalog/

There is a unit for many different models of cars.

I connected mine to a Motorola bluetooth unit.
