AudioBooks on iPhone

There are several ways to listen to audiobooks on an iPhone. One way is to use the Apple Books app, which comes pre-installed on all iPhones. To listen to an audiobook using the Apple Books app:

Open the Apple Books app.
Tap the "Audiobooks" tab at the bottom of the screen.
Find the audiobook you want to listen to and tap on it.
The audiobook will begin playing. You can use the controls at the bottom of the screen to pause, adjust the volume, or skip to a different part of the audiobook.
You can also use other apps, such as Audible, to listen to audiobooks on your iPhone. Audible is a popular app that offers a large selection of audiobooks, and it has features such as the ability to adjust the playback speed and automatic bookmarking. To listen to an audiobook using Audible:

Download the Audible app from the App Store.
Sign in to your Audible account.
Find the audiobook you want to listen to and tap on it.
The audiobook will begin playing. You can use the controls at the bottom of the screen to pause, adjust the volume, or skip to a different part of the audiobook.
Both the Apple Books app and Audible allow you to download audiobooks for offline listening, so you can listen to them even when you don't have an internet connection.

Harman Kardon Aura Wireless Speaker Connect To WiFi

Before I start, this has been the best sounding wireless speaker I have heard to date.

I did though have problems connecting to the wireless network with the instructions provided.

I did find better instructions here: https://www.harmankardon.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-masterCatalog_Harman/default/dw6d8ebe09/pdfs/Aura_OM_EN.pdf

There are a few different ways to connect this device to the WiFi network including connecting it via Bluetooth first then touching the WiFi button no longer than 1/2 a second, this will bring up a message "Share Wi-Fi Settings?

It just didn't connect, if your network is on DHCP and quite simple you may have more luck.

Bluetooth, direct connection via 3.5 mm jack, or Optical worked fine.

In my case Bluetooth was not an option as i wanted it to connect to my PC via WiFi.

This is what I did to connect the device to my wireless network.

Turn on the device by pressing the power button for around 3 seconds

Make sure the device is not connected via Bluetooth on your iPhone, if it is disconnect now.

On the Aura speaker, touch input select button until it goes green, then hold the WiFi button (located at the rear of the device) for around 5 seconds, it should go from a slow flash to a faster flash.

Go to WiFi settings on you iPhone, then select HK_Aura****, it may take a few goes depending on WiFi signal.

Once connected, the WiFi led will be a solid white on the Aura device

You are now connected as an adhoc connection which basically means you are connected directly to the speaker.

From your iPhone click on the (i) information button, this will tell you the devices IP address (192.168.1.1)

From your iPhone web browser type 192.168.1.1 (In some cases your Wifi router may also have the same IP address so don't get confused you are not connected to your wifi's router but directly with the speaker)

From here you can change the name on the device, change WiFi settings or update the firmware of the device.

WARNING EMAIL HARMAN KARDON FIRST

DO NOT UPDATE UNTIL YOU CAN CONFIRM THE FIRMWARE WITH SUPPLIER

This Firmware Is only for us models: https://www.harmankardon.com/software.html

I updated mine and now have a bricked unit with no possible way of fixing, I am currently in talks with Harman as the firmware did not say it was for US customers only.

*****************************************************************************

We will be changing the network settings.

Click on Select Option and select your wireless router, then click done.

Enter the wireless password, then click save

You will be automatically connected back to your wireless network and the device will now be connected.

You can now connect to the device by using Airplay

If you would like to play music from your PC to the Aura wireless speaker try this nifty program called TuneBlade, It does have a one time price but it was dirt cheap.

Warning Do Not Do This Unless your Unit is Bricked already or from Australia

There is no guarantee this will even work

Australian model ONLY restore Firmware : Link removed

Always Use The Selected Program To Open This Kind Of File Not Highlighted

If  "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is not highlighted.

In my case my mp4 and mpg files were not able to be changed to a default program

Go to Start, then type Default Programs, click on Default Programs

Click on "Set program access and computer defaults", click OK to UAC if prompted

Select Microsoft Windows, then click OK

Some files still would not allow file association, for example MP4 files

I ran VLC, then  Tools, then Preferences

Scroll down and click on Set up associations....

Select mp4, then OK or in my case I selected all, then Ok, as i use VLC for playing all media files.

See: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html for other file types.

Airplay For Windows Using Tuneblade

I spent hours trying to get a windows media player to work with airplay.

Tried MPlayer, SMplayer, Media centre addin, 5Kplayer and many more with no success.

My default windows media player is VLC and didn't allow Airplay nativelly.

I wanted to wirelessly stream the audio content of a movie from my media PC to the an Aura Harmon Kardon Wireless speaker.

As the PC does not have a wireless card, I needed to do this by streaming the content via the LAN connection to the wireless router, then to the wireless speaker.

There are many few applications that allow you to turn your PC into a Airport server Receiver EG Shairport4w allows you to do just that, you can stream your music from say you mobile to your PC.

Shairport4w : http://lozaelec.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/play-music-from-iphone-ipod-or-ipad-to.html

To get it to though to stream from the PC to a device is difficult without using Airplay in iTunes and that is not always possible as some content would not play in iTunes.

Yes difficult until I discovered Tuneblade.

All I needed to do is click on the play button for HK Aura WF and it work flawlessly.

Tuneblade : http://tuneblade.com/

Trial version allows you to stream for 10 minutes, I would recommend the full version as it was only $10 or so dollars.

I was also able to use the built in audio delay in Vlc.

MPlayer For Windows Wont Run

So you don't spend hours trying to work out why MPlayer doesn't run, MPlayer currently doesn't use a graphical interface unless you use something like smplayer front end Player : http://www.smplayer.eu/en/downloads

MPlayer Download : http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer/

Unzip into a folder.

If you want to run MPlayer without Graphical Interface, right click on the video/Audio file then select open with, then Choose Default Program.

Then click on Browse, then browse to the MPlayer folder you unzipped earlier. Select MPlayer, then Open, the OK.

The movie or audio file will play assuming you have a windows codec pack installed already.

As there are no controls it is difficult to control you can however use your keyboard Up, Down, Left and Right and space bar or scroll it with your mouse.

Replace Battery Sonos CR100 Controller

KMy CR100 will not connect with ZP80 zone player.

The battery was not charged for some time and it wouldn't connect.

How to pull unit apart to get to the battery

 Youtube video: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwjqRgkVKt1IaUdGUXVaU2xRNEU

In some cases replacing the battery may fix the problem but in my case I found that it was not battery but something had gone wrong with the wireless module in the unit so replacing the battery wouldn't help.

The CR100 controller is not full supported any longer and most of the settings are done with the Sonos software for PC or mobile app and not done on the controller any longer.

Your best option is to buy a cheap mobile or tablet, this will control the music a lot better and you don't have to view icons on a small screen any longer.

You still have the 65000 max track limit.

Sonos should look at ways of overcoming this issue.
Programs like streamtome, music browser show music in folder view and don't have these issues.

M4a to Mp3

I use Audacity

Download from : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Install then run Audacity

Open the directory with the M4a files you want to convert

Drag all the M4a files over to Audacity and wait for it to process each one

If you get this error message while importing then go to Edit then Preferences then libraries

Click on the download button for FFmeg Library

This will take you to :  http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown

Click on the appropriate download page

Click on ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe for your system

Download and install

Once installed close Audacity(this is must) then reopen

Drag the M4a files over to Audacity and wait for it to process each one

Once complete go to Audacity and click on File then Export Multiple

Untick "Overwrite existing files" now choose the export location (must do this each time) press Export

Click OK for each file, it will then batch process them all

In Audacity press File then exit

You can now delete all the M4a files in the directory
